Application Process

Follow these steps to apply for the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream.

1

Submit Expression of Interest (EOI)

Create an online profile in the MPNP EOI system. Provide accurate information about your work experience, education, language skills, and Manitoba connections. Your profile will be ranked against other candidates.

2

Receive Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA)

If your EOI score is competitive, you'll receive an LAA inviting you to submit a full application. LAAs are issued through regular draws targeting candidates with the highest scores.

3

Submit Full MPNP Application

Within 60 days of receiving your LAA, submit your complete application with all required documents including employment verification, language test results, education credentials, and identity documents.

4

Provincial Assessment

MPNP reviews your application, verifies your employment and documents, and may conduct an interview. This process typically takes 3-6 months.

5

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum score needed to receive an LAA?

There's no fixed minimum score. MPNP conducts regular draws and invites the highest-ranked candidates. Recent draws have typically invited candidates with scores of 60+ points, but this varies. Focus on maximizing your points in all factors.

Can I apply if I'm on an LMIA-exempt work permit?

Yes, you can apply regardless of whether your work permit is LMIA-based or LMIA-exempt. What matters is that you have valid work authorization and meet the employment requirements (6+ months of full-time work with your Manitoba employer).

Can I change employers while my application is being processed?

You must notify MPNP of any job changes. Changing employers after submitting your application can affect your eligibility. It's best to remain with the employer who provided your job offer until you receive your provincial nomination.

Do I need a job offer to apply?

Yes, you need a long-term, full-time job offer from your current Manitoba employer. This should be a genuine offer of ongoing employment after you become a permanent resident. The job offer must meet Manitoba's employment standards.

How long does the entire process take?

The EOI may remain in the system for up to 12 months waiting for an LAA. Once invited, provincial processing takes 3-6 months. Federal PR processing adds another 6-12 months. Total time from EOI submission to PR can be 12-24 months.
