Since 18 February 2026 NSNP has four streams: Skilled Worker, Nova Scotia Graduate, Entrepreneur and Nova Scotia: Express Entry. Critical Construction Worker and Physician are now sub-categories of the Skilled Worker stream, and the Occupations In-Demand sub-category currently lists no occupations.

NSNP Pathways

Nova Scotia runs four streams. Construction workers and physicians apply under the Skilled Worker stream. Fees are CAD 1,000 for the worker streams and CAD 2,000 for the Entrepreneur stream, payable only if your EOI is selected.

Expression of Interest System, Formalised 28 November 2025

Nova Scotia selects candidates from an Expression of Interest (EOI) pool. Submitting an EOI is free. Since 1 May 2026 an EOI is valid for 12 months, and transition measures apply to EOIs already in the pool: EOIs submitted before May 2024 closed on 1 May 2026, and EOIs submitted from May 2024 to April 2026 stay active until 30 April 2027. Selection is not first come, first served, and being in the pool does not guarantee selection. The province considers labour market needs, occupation and sector priorities, intended region, status in Canada and available allocation. A selected worker-stream candidate has 7 calendar days to review the file, upload updated documents and pay the non-refundable CAD 1,000 fee (CAD 2,000 for the Entrepreneur stream). In July 2026 Nova Scotia announced a one-time expansion of its 2026 selection priorities for people already living and working in the province; it applies to EOIs submitted on or before 30 June 2026 by candidates whose work permit expires in 2026 or earlier. For workers with a permanent full-time job offer from a Nova Scotia employer in a TEER 0 to 5 occupation. A TEER 4 or 5 offer also needs 6 months of paid work with the employer making the offer.

It consolidated the earlier Nova Scotia Experience: Express Entry and Labour Market Priorities streams on 18 February 2026. Labour Market Priorities no longer exists as a separate stream.
