Duration & Permit Types

  • Maximum Duration: You can work for up to 9 months within any 12-month period.
  • Under 90 Days: Seasonal Work Visa or Certificate - simpler application process.
  • 3 to 9 Months: Seasonal Work Residence Permit - requires full permit application.
  • Wage Requirement: Employers must pay at least collectively agreed wages (approx €1,400+ gross/month).

Requirements

To apply for seasonal work in Finland, you must have a confirmed job offer from a Finnish employer. Here are the key requirements:

Job Offer

A binding job offer or employment contract specifying the nature of work, duration, and terms of employment.

Valid Passport

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after your intended work period ends.

Health Insurance

Comprehensive health insurance is mandatory for the entire duration of your stay in Finland.

Accommodation

Employers often provide accommodation, especially for agricultural work. Otherwise, you need to arrange your own.

  • Wild Berry Picking: Picking wild berries for personal use requires no permit. Commercial picking may have different rules.
