Canada Fee Schedule and Proof of Funds

IRCC fees and funds tables, checked 6 November 2026

Fees Checked 6 November 2026

Fees checked 6 November 2026. Confirm every amount on the IRCC fee page before you pay. IRCC's fee list was last modified on 21 September 2026, and the new permanent residence fees apply to applications received on or after 30 April 2026. This page is a reference, not a payment instruction.

How to Use This Page

This page collects the IRCC fees and proof of funds figures that applicants from India ask us about most often. It is a reference, not a payment instruction. Every figure below was read from the official page named beside it on 6 November 2026, and fees and funds tables can change without notice.

Before You Pay

  • Open the IRCC fee list at https://ircc.canada.ca/english/information/fees/fees.asp and confirm the amount for your application type on the day you pay.
  • Pay through your own IRCC account and keep every receipt. IRCC says application fees are the same for everyone, and that no one can promise you a visa.
  • The IRCC fee list was last modified on 21 September 2026 and shows no effective date of its own. IRCC's notice of 27 March 2026 says applications received on or after 30 April 2026 are subject to the new permanent residence fees.

Permanent Residence Fees: Economic Immigration (Including Express Entry)

These are the amounts on IRCC's list under "Permanent Residence: Economic Immigration (including Express Entry)". Each adult pays a processing fee and the right of permanent residence fee (RPRF).

Application Total (CAD) Without RPRF (CAD)
Principal applicant 1,590 990
Spouse or partner 1,590 990
Each dependent child 270 Not listed

The RPRF is CAD 600. IRCC's Help Centre says you can pay it with your application fees or wait for IRCC's instructions, that dependent children of a principal applicant are exempt from it, and that it is refunded if you paid it up front and the application is not approved. IRCC's notice of 27 March 2026 lists the RPRF rising from CAD 575 to CAD 600 and the Provincial Nominee Program processing fee from CAD 950 to CAD 990.

Worked Example: Two Adults and Two Children

  • Adults: 2 × 1,590 = 3,180
  • Children: 2 × 270 = 540
  • IRCC application fees: 3,720. With the family biometrics fee of 170, the total paid to IRCC is 3,890.
  • Our family of four cost guide adds proof of funds and provincial fees.

Other Permanent Residence Fees

Amounts as listed by IRCC for the other main permanent residence categories. "Total" includes the RPRF.

IRCC also lists a permanent resident card at CAD 50 and a permanent resident travel document at CAD 50.

Biometrics

Biometrics fee CAD
Per individual 85
Per family of 2 or more eligible people 170
Per group of 3 or more performing artists 255

IRCC's biometrics page says a child under 14 does not need to give biometrics, and neither does an applicant over 79. Age is assessed at the time the application is submitted. IRCC's page for applicants from India says the biometrics appointment itself is free.

Temporary Residence Fees

Fee CAD
Electronic Travel Authorization 7.00
Visitor visa, per person 100.00
Visitor visa, per family (one fee for a family of 5 or more people) 500.00
Extend your stay as a visitor, per person 100.00
Study permit (including extensions), per person 150.00
Work permit (including extensions), per person 155.00
Open work permit holder fee (added to the work permit fee) 100.00

Temporary resident permit, per person 246.25
Restore your status as a visitor 246.25
Restore your status as a student 396.25
Restore your status as a worker 401.25

A work permit with an open work permit holder fee therefore costs CAD 255 in total (155 plus 100), which matches the amount on IRCC's page for applicants from India. IRCC lists the Super Visa under the visitor visa line, with the label "Visitor visa (including super visa) or extend your stay in Canada".

Express Entry Settlement Funds (Proof of Funds)

IRCC's table is labelled "Funds you need (CAD)" and "Updated July 7, 2025". The page itself was last modified on 16 October 2026. The amounts are minimums, and IRCC says to list the full amount you hold.

Study Permit Proof of Funds (Living Costs)

For study permit applications made on or after 1 September 2026, IRCC's page lists the amounts below as living costs per year for all provinces and territories except Quebec. They exclude tuition and transportation. Applicants must also show funds for tuition fees and for transportation to and from Canada, for themselves and any accompanying family members, and IRCC gives no dollar figure for those two items. Quebec applicants must meet the requirements set by the Quebec ministry, which this page does not quantify. IRCC's page was last modified on 28 August 2026.

Family members (including applicant) From 1 Sep 2026 (CAD) 1 Jan 2025 to 31 Aug 2026 (CAD)
1 23,448 22,895
2 29,192 28,502
3 35,888 35,040
4 43,572 42,543
5 49,419 48,252
6 55,736 54,420
7 62,054 60,589
Each additional member above 7 6,318 6,170

IRCC names a GIC from a Canadian financial institution as one example of proof of funds. It gives no GIC amount.

Costs Not on the IRCC Fee List

Fees Paid to the Province or the Employer

  • LMIA processing fee: CAD 1,000 per position, paid by the employer to ESDC. ESDC says it cannot be paid by, or recovered from, the temporary foreign worker.
  • Provincial nomination fees go to the province before the IRCC application. We checked British Columbia (CAD 1,750 from 22 January 2026), Nova Scotia (CAD 1,000 from 1 September 2026), Ontario, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta, and set them out in the cost guide.

Language tests, educational credential assessments, medical exams and police certificates are paid to the organizations that provide them, and prices vary. Our family of four cost guide says where to check each one, and our guide to fake job offers explains which payments a worker should never make.
